The Short Answer

What is the best stone for outdoor kitchen countertops in East Texas?

At Berry Marble & Granite, we fabricate and install outdoor kitchen countertops across Tyler and East Texas using materials that hold up to the heat, humidity, and UV exposure this region delivers. Granite and Porcelain Slab are our most popular choices for outdoor kitchens because they resist moisture, temperature swings, and fading.

Your Stone Options

Stone That Holds Up Outside

Granite

Dense, UV-stable, and heat-tolerant, granite is the most proven choice for outdoor cooking surfaces.

Quartzite

A naturally hard stone that handles temperature swings and outdoor exposure better than most people expect.

Porcelain Slab

Virtually impervious to moisture and fading, porcelain slab is purpose-built for outdoor environments.

Soapstone

Naturally non-porous and resistant to the elements, soapstone develops a rich patina outdoors over time.

Common Questions

Outdoor Kitchen Countertop Questions

Which stones hold up best in an outdoor kitchen?

Granite and porcelain slab are the strongest performers outdoors. They resist UV fading, moisture, heat from grills, and the temperature swings East Texas delivers across seasons.

Do natural stone countertops need to be sealed outdoors?

Yes, and we seal every natural stone surface on install day. Outdoor stone should be resealed more frequently than indoor countertops because of sun and rain exposure, and we will walk you through what that schedule looks like for your specific material.

Can you work around an existing grill or built-in appliances?

Absolutely. We template around your grill, side burners, refrigerator cutouts, and any other fixtures so the stone fits exactly where it needs to go.

How long does an outdoor kitchen countertop project take?

Our standard turnaround is about two weeks from template to install. The install itself is typically completed in a single visit.

Do you fabricate custom shapes for outdoor kitchen islands?

Yes. Our robotic saw handles curves, angles, and custom island shapes with the same precision as a straight run of countertop. If your outdoor kitchen has an unusual layout, that is exactly what we are set up to handle.

Is porcelain slab a good choice if my outdoor kitchen gets full sun?

It is one of the best choices for full sun. Porcelain slab does not absorb moisture, will not fade, and handles heat without sealing requirements, which makes it low-maintenance in a way that natural stone outdoors is not.
